Sometimes when God finds you, His light forces you to explore the darkest parts of your soul. Maybe you know what I’m talking about, the little guilty pleasures, the tiny sins that are somewhat acceptable because they don’t affect anyone around you. Well when God finds you, you can no longer hide those secrets.
"Jesus chose to die for the person who you are behind closed doors."
That’s what happened to me today. I’ve been trying really hard to keep up this phasade…make people think I have it all together. Everyone knows the Callie who's always smiling and giggling. The Callie who preached at Pepperdine and writes about Jesus in her free time, but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. You see, behind closed doors there’s a girl who turns to a razor before a Bible when she gets sad. Behind closed doors, there’s a hypocrite with a prideful heart. Behind closed doors, is a soul marked up by impurities. But the thing that brings me to tears, is that God loves the girl behind closed doors. Jesus didn’t die for the Callie who raises her hands during worship, He died for the broken, sinful Callie, and just like me Jesus chose to die for the person who you are behind closed doors.
"God meets us at our lowest point and He says, 'show me your scars, and I’ll show you my grace.' "
Jesus chose to die for the girl who lost her innoccence too soon, and for the boy who took advantage of his girlfriend. Jesus chose to die for the husband who abandoned his family, and the wife who had an affair. Jesus chose to die for the boy who uses alcohol to forget, and for the girl who gets high as an escape. Jesus chose to die for the teenager who self-harms, and the anorexic who starves. Jesus chose to die for the girl who watches porn, and for the boy who likes kissing other boys. Jesus chose to die for the atheist. Jesus chose to die for the cheater. Jesus chose to die for the liar. Jesus chose to die for the gossiper. I don't know about you, but I’ve had it twisted this whole time. I thought that Jesus loved me the most when I got baptized and was reading my Bible every night, but Jesus loved me the most, Jesus chose to die for me, when I was questioning His very existence. While we were still sinners Christ died for us. He loved us in our darkest moments, and He died for us knowing that we may never love Him back. God meets us at our lowest point and He says, “show me your scars, and I’ll show you my grace”. He says, "tell me about your sins, and I’ll tell you about the cross."
John 3:17, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
