My least favorite part about the first day of school (besides having to wake up early) is sharing with the class “a little about me”. It never occurred to me that if I wanted to start a blog I’d have to have an about me page…well, here it is. My name is Callie Smith and I am currently a senior in High School. I have a younger sister named Tyler and younger brother named Kobe (Kobe is my fluffy maltipoo). My passion is basketball, writing, and spreading the love of Jesus.
I started this blog, Callie’s Journey to Joy because I want to use my testimony to bring people to Jesus. I have been struggling with Bipolar Depression since I was ten years old, but didn’t realize I had the mental illness until two years ago. Looking at me no one would ever know that I have battled with self-harm, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, and everything else that comes along with depression.
That doesn’t sound very joyful does it? Don’t worry because here’s the joyful part. In the midst of my darkest hours God’s love came down from heaven and saved me from my hell. He healed me from my depression by providing the right doctors and medication and He replaced my spirit of melancholy with a spirit of joy. The point of this blog is to share my journey to joy and to encourage you to experience the joy of the Lord with me. James 1:12 is a verse that has been significant to my walk with Christ and has given me the strength to overcome all the trials that have been thrown my way. “Blessed is the one who preservers under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
